Steve Learn, owner of LEARING More Circulation Idea Service, spent almost 5-years as the Circulation Director at the TimesDaily, in Florence, Alabama before his position was eliminated. This newspaper was a part of the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group but has sense been sold.
He started his newspaper career at the now defunct Knoxville Journal in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1983.
In the 1990's Steve was Circulation Director or Manager of some of the fastest growing newspapers in the south at three different newspapers: Maryville, Murfreesboro, and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He also successfully managed circulation departments in Ohio and South Carolina. His career has seen him work for Scripps Howard, McClatchy Newspapers, Waco Media, Horvitz Newspapers, Charles Morris Newspapers, Cox Newspapers and the New York Times Regional Media Group.
He is an active member of several newspaper associations including, Southern Circulation Managers Association (SCMA) where he's held the position of State Director, Publicity Chairman and Training and Development Co-Chairman. Learn is a charter member of the Newspaper Circulation Federation of America. He was the first Chairman of the South Carolina Press Association's circulation conference and former Chairman of the Tennessee Press Association, Circulation Committee.
Steve is a graduate of Leadership Shoals, Leadership Morgan County in Alabama and Leadership York County in South Carolina.
Steve is a gifted speaker known for his funny stories and thought provoking circulation insight. At one conference in Atlanta his session was voted (by those in attendance) as one of the best overall. He has won over 25 awards regionally and nationally for his innovative circulation ideas.
Christie Learn, Editor and Publisher of LEARNing More Circulation Idea Service, was an editorial assistant at the now defunct Knoxville Journal for 10 years. She is also a very successful small business owner and manages a large Pre K daycare and learning center.
Christie spent 20 years in public education, mostly in special education in Tennessee and Alabama. She studied at the University of Tennessee and Shoals Community College.
As an avid newspaper reader she brings an insightful perspective of what a business women and mother requires from a local newspaper.
